Nest Home Loans Office Fitout — Tauranga

Nest Home Loans’ Tauranga office is a fitout carried almost entirely in one pale timber. Oak and Ash veneer runs through the flat-panel cabinetry, the vertical batten screens and the exposed portal frames, the last left in clear-finished Ash, so the grain stays legible from reception to the back office. Around it the palette is quiet — salt-and-pepper terrazzo underfoot, soft grey-green walls, white Carrara-look quartz on the benchtops.

Then there is the orange. One brand colour, used like a material rather than a graphic — a lacquered orange bulkhead carried on clear Ash posts, geometric orange cushions along the sunlit window bench, orange wool pads on the stools. It runs through the warm-neutral room as a single stripe, enough to say whose office this is without leaning on signage.

The joinery moves are exact. The batten screens land on a curved base rail where the Ash meets the terrazzo — bent timber, shop-cut, precise against the aggregate. One screen carries an arched cut-out. The island bar wears slate-blue V-groove panelling beneath its quartz top, an Oak stool pulled up to the bar. Drawer fronts hang on matte black folded-tab pulls over black plinths — hardware reduced to a folded black tab, repeated down the cabinetry run.

Up close the details hold. The benchtop’s mitred waterfall corner lands over the Oak drawer fronts, the Carrara-look veining turning the edge rather than stopping at it. A black ring pendant hangs against the lacquered bulkhead. Open Oak shelving above the kitchenette carries mugs and glassware under a glass pendant.

The light does the rest. Steel-framed glazing lets bright, diffuse daylight through the reception lounge, with hard patches of sun landing on the window bench and its Oak cubbies. Grey carpet tiles mark the change to the back office; the pale Ash carries through. It reads less like an office and more like a room people would choose to sit in.
