Fluted White & Limed Oak Kitchen — Valley Road, Mount Maunganui

A limed Oak kitchen built around a fluted white island with a radiused curved end — calacatta-look porcelain, brushed brass and diffused daylight on Valley Road.

Curved fluted white island in a limed Oak kitchen filled with daylight

A kitchen of two materials given room to speak. Limed light Oak veneer runs across the uppers and the tall cabinetry; a matte-white fluted island turns a full radiused curve at its end. Calacatta-look porcelain ties the two together — benchtops and a full-height splashback veined in soft gold and taupe — and the dining zone reads as part of the same light-filled room.

The island carries the plan. Its fluted fronts follow the radius of the curved end, and the end panel is doing more than it lets on: a concealed wine store sits behind it, opened on brass edge pulls, the gaps held to a crisp shadow line. Opposite, the Oak tall bank takes the working weight — integrated ovens, a full fridge surround, and a lit shelf nook cut into the run.

The hardware keeps one register throughout. A brushed-brass gooseneck tap stands over the undermount sink against the veined splashback, and the same brass returns as edge pulls and drawer hardware across the room. Drawer banks ride on soft-close runners behind negative-detail pulls — the kind of craftsmanship that only shows when a drawer is open. Underfoot, pale wide-board European Oak carries the floor out to warm-white walls.

The light is left to do the rest. Diffused daylight fills the room, and warm LED strips under the cabinets pick out the flutes one by one — three stools drawn up to the fluted front sit in that glow. Charcoal arrives only where you sit: woven leather on the stools, black Oak at the dining table. Nothing shouts. The curve, the veining and the brass do the talking.
